ABOUT

ME!

Imani Shivers is recent graduate from Rutgers University-New Brunswick where she received her Bachelors in the Fine Arts of Dance, as well as a minor in Sociology. The Sicklerville, NJ native has worked with choreographers Tommie-Waheed Evans, Lamar Baylor, and Dara Stevens-Meredith. During her undergraduate career at Rutgers, Shivers has worked with Chein-Ying Wang, Christian Von-Howard, Shannon Gillen, Dawn Marie Bazemore, Randy James, and Barbara Angeline.

Shivers has experience as a ballet, modern, jazz, afro-fusion, hip-hop, and creative movement instructor. She currently teaches at the Alex J Dream Center and Eleone Dance Unlimited in Philadelphia, PA. Her senior thesis was selected by the Mason Gross School of the Arts faculty to premier at the American College Dance Association conference in March 2020. She also received the Margery J. Turner Choreography Prize for her choreography.
